• IN 1777 AMERICA, THERE WERE TWO NAVAL OFFICERS SAMUEL SHAW AND RICHARD MARVEN, WHO HAD REPORTED FOR THEIR LEADER ABOUT THEIR COMMANDING OFFICER’S ACTION AGAINST TO BRITISH PRISONERS OF WAR.
• NORMAL PROCEDURE IN U.S.A. NAVY WAS IF ANYONE REPORTING AGAINST HIGHEST OFFICER, RESULT WAS DISMISSED OF SAMUEL & RICHARD FROM THE NAVY.
• THEN THEY HAVE SEEK A HELP FROM CONGRESS, AND EXPLAINED THEY HAVE DONE THEIR DUTY AND THERE WAS NO REASONS FOR ARRESTED.
• AS A RESULT IN 1778, CONTINENTAL CONGRESS PUBLISHED THEIR FIRST WHISTLE BLOWER PROTECTION LAW. SAMUEL & RICHARD WON & RELEASE FROM JAIL AND COMMANDING OFFICER FIRED.

Do you believe that in Asia countries like Sri Lanka this concept of whistle blowing is happening now a days? Say for an example, If your organization is implementing whistle blowing in practice, will you blow your whistle in an unfair incident happening to you?
ReplyDeleteNow a days whistle blower is famous concept for most of organization including some public sector also. In my organization we have space to blow our whistle for an unfair incidents. I experienced it , when i blow my whistle it will report internal audit department then they get immediate actions for it
DeleteToday in Sri Lanka whistle blowing concept is gradually implementing among the private sector as well as public. Mostly in financial sector. In our organization & entire group implemented this concept and we positively hope that it can increase the corporate value of the organization.

Although the term was first used to refer to public servants who made known governmental mismanagement, waste, or corruption, it now covers the activity of any employee or officer of a public or private organization who alerts a wider group to setbacks to their interests as a result of waste, corruption, fraud, or profit seeking.
ReplyDeleteWhistleblowing is the term utilized when a specialist passes on data concerning bad behavior. In this direction, we call that "making a revelation" or "blowing the whistle". The bad behavior will commonly (despite the fact that not really) be something they have seen at work.
